Hello ya'll so did you? Did you ever think there could be a country scene in the springs? We have all the elements. Land, Cowboys, Redneck, Country values. Oh, and one other thing..GREAT players. Yep we have all the elements. So where has there been an outlet The one and only true strong hold of country. One little ole bar on top of the "Hill" that kept up with live country for ever. If you dont know already I aint tellin. But now you can pick between three or four venues that are promoting LIVE country music and It aint you daddy's country. ( well some of it is . People are starved for songs about their life. Country has the widest demographic appeal as well. All of us love the rock and blues. Thats where we all come from. Call to arms. The time is now. Twang up your rock and make some noise. Thats how you start a scene. So you rockers who think tom petty is country and think that it is too easy to play that 2/4 beat. Buck up take a shot of whiskey. Stomp the ground and yell F--- Yeah. Tell me that don't feel about right. Start a country band and see what attention you bring. You might even learn to be a better player of you instrument. Get kickin chicken. Peace, Woody

I find it difficult to classify Rascal Flatts, Shania Twain, Taylor Swift or any of the top 40 crap that you hear on the radio these days as country. I would call it pop. Actually, I prefer my "Daddy's Country". I will take Dwight, Buck, Johnny, Waylon, or any of the 60's style music ANY day over the crap that is being produced now.

Casey James Prestwood was rad, but they're from Denver. I'm a shitty pedal steel player looking for a real country band (my current band is good, but we've only got one country song, and you may have seen me butcher it opening for CJP.)

i truly hope it comes to pass.. Cowboys is very often rated one of the best venues in the country.. however it hasnt well reflected any local talent. Maybe there just isn't an incentive to be ambitious here, like there is in Denver or Branson or Nashville. There is a compromise between country and 'mountain boogie' and bluesgrass here..but thats because Manitou has the more active scene currently, and you find a lot of folks there heavy influenced by Townes Van Zandt. so i can't say for sure who is real country in the Springs. I endorse young bands like Broken Spoke, El Toro de la Muerte, Creating a Newsense, and The Changing Colors, though they frequently overstep genre boundaries. Even my personal stuff has been compared to old old country music, since my subject matter is quite sad and melancholy, and i play an autoharp (but the analog synths and computer backups tend to disqualify it). www.myspace.com/tallcitytallcity

Woody here, Yo panda. My peddle steel player is george duncan. He is da chit. He said he was up there at the rocket room. Keep on jammin we need more peddle steel. We are pretty close to getting out on the town to play. The scene in manitou is jam/ folk/ new grass. All those bands are killer. But that aint country. I guess it becomes a matter of perspective. It is funny to hear about branson being a country town. I mean i guess it is. But there sure as hell no "scene" there. Just an up tight musicians union so you can play in one of the shows there. Twang bros unite. We need to make a stand so we can really make a noise. There are great musicians here. there just needs to be a focus on promotion. Radio, Club owners, promoters, bands, sound and lights. Why the hell not? START A BAND. It took me a month to do the craigslist audition thing and I found the right guys to put together a great band. We have it all. Great vocals, Good instrumentation, Players that can play and a passion for music in general. Keep the twang bangin!! Peace woody Attachments:

Taylor Swift had an interesting performance with Stevie Nicks at the Grammys... Stevie gave her a great look when she sang out of tune! LOL

Taylor swift isnt old enough to have the blues. She is a hanna montana. HAG is winning in the Country poll. You can tell a lot about a person from the music they listen to. Here are some better than average local country bands. Dave coker - I hope I spelled it right X tonepony - What the hell does that mean anyway? Saddle Rock Latigo - Im smellin a local country jam hmm. Peace Woody Attachments:

Second choice would be Shania Twain or Toby Keith.
