Hey Adam, and everyone else on the forum:
I thought I’d start a new thread to introduce myself and hopefully stimulate some conversation on your new forum.
I’m moving to Manitou Springs by the end of this year & the most important aspect of my new life in Manitou Springs is finding out where the best places are to see live music.
Can you give me an overview of where the best live music venues are in the Colorado Springs/Manitou Springs area?
As far as my musical tastes go, I listen to pretty much every genre. However, if you had to nail down my listening preferences at this period in time you’d find me listening to a lot of raunchy blue-based rock like The Faces, the Mick Taylor period of the Rolling Stones, and Black Crowes. When I burn out on slinky guitar licks and overdriven amps, I’ve been turning my ear onto roots music & Telecaster twangin’ old school country tunes. That may not be the hippest stuff to some folks, but after 20 plus years of hanging out in the hard rock and metal scene, it was time to listen to music not cranked to “11."
With that tidbit of information, hopefully I’ve given you all enough info to start a conversation on this forum.
I also hope to get to know some locals who share a passion for music, so that after I get the contents of my U-haul unloaded into my new place in Manitou Springs, I will already have met some folks on this forum with whom I can buy a beer and share watching some great live music.
Cheers.

Right on!
I know a like minded individual when I meet them. You shouldn't have a hard time assimilating into the Manitou scene. It is easy to find EVERYTHING in no time at all...
A quick question for you, though...
Do you play? I sure could use a bass/guit/or key player with decent taste in music!

Adam, Actually, I've started playing guitar again after about a 5 year break. (Man, you should have seen the gear I sold off back then!) I'll be honest, at this point I am too rusty right now to play with a band. I've been playing on and off since the 80's, but I was always working too much to dedicate the time to become stage worthy..........One of my goals once having completed my move is to seriously dig in and develop my chops back to the level of a respectable rhythm guitar player...........Let's schedule an audition for autumn 2011 On a brighter note, after having checked out your website, I'm confident a chunk of my paychecks will end up in your cash register. I'm a sucker for old vinyl, obscure rock n' roll, and all things retro...........I'm moving from Los Angeles, so I am glad to see I will not be completely leaving behind the funky shops you can find in LA. Do you have a band currently? If so, what kind of music are you playing?

Well, I am currently between projects, but have played bass or guitar for a handful of bands ranging from horror punk to garage rock to country western...
I am currently trying to get some legs on a sloppy garage punk band, but am treading slowly...
Stop by the shop when you get into town, though. I doubt your any more rusty than the rest of us!
